11 Jan 2023

This post shows the first 10 turns of a simulated game of GoCaine, the multiplayer Go strategy board game where 2-6 players compete to build the most lucrative cocaine trafficking network.

For each turn, I will first present a written account of what each player did and then will show a diagram to illustrate what has transpired.

Game Setup: Each player starts with $50 million cash, 10 cells, 1 Task Force chip, and Level 1 Smuggling Infrastructure.

Blue is randomly chosen to go first.  Play proceeds clockwise, so player order is:  Blue, Green, Black, Yellow, Red, White.

Note:  because players do not yet have any cells on the board, they are not able to buy product this first turn.  They could use their buy action to buy other things, but without a cell on the board, they cannot buy product.

TURN 1

Blue

Passes on the first action (buy/build, transport, sell).

Deploys Blue cell#1 into Peru.

Green

Passes on first action (buy/build, transport, sell).

Deploys Green cell#1 into the Atlantic zone.

Black

Selects buy/build. Spends $20 million to buy 1 Political Influence asset in Northern Colombia. Indicates this by placing a black cube in the first available influence spot in the Northern Colombia row, and receives 1 Task Force chip.  Black is left with $30 million.

Deploys Black cell#1 into Northern Colombia.

Yellow

Alright, well done!  You now have a sense of what the first 10 turns of a game of GoCaine could look like.  Every game is different depending on the aggressiveness of the players.  Some players like to sit back and safely and quietly try to build their distribution networks.  Others like to launch a territory war right away.
